Possible Key Shots

The shot above is from the movie "Grave Encounters" and this could be a very useful shot in my trailer as i could show my characters sat in a hallway with a silhouette at the end in the abandoned house i am filming in, there is a similar type of hallway which i could use to replicate this. This shot is effective as it shows that they are not alone in the house but they don't know it, which would be a good effect to have in my trailer to heighten the scariness of it.

This shot again is from the movie "Grave Encounters" and it shows horror as the genre quite clearly as we see blood, and it is dark around the person. it is a close up of the persons back which makes the scars stand out, it also allows us to feel closer to that person as it is a close up which draws us into the movie more.

The shot above is another from "Grave Encounters". This shot is a medium to long shot of a girl stood looking innocent in the corner, this is typical thing to see in a horror as there is usually a haunted girl. This type of shot lets us see all of the character who is in the shot so we can see what she is wearing and the location she is in, she looks like she is wearing a kind of hospital gown/ night gown which relates to my costume and props research. Also the fact that the location looks kind of like a hospital enforces that idea.

This close up of the same girl from the last shot shows her face is pale and her eyes are bagged and she looks ill/ demented/ insane. This relates to my idea for my film as i have a girl in it like this one and she will be dressed similar and her make up will be similar.

This next shot is of a hospital bed that has no mattress or anything on it, this is another thing i could include in my trailer. it is effective because it shows it is in a hospital maybe a mental hospital, this connotes horror as we have come to expect mental institutes to be involved in horror films.

This shot of someone asleep in bed being watched by a monster/ creature is another thing i may include in my trailer. I think it if effective because it clearly signifies the genre and also give a very haunting feel. Also the bedroom is in the dark with one little sidelight on, this again makes the monster stand out more. The fact that this is a wide shot allows us to see the true scale of the monster and as we can see it is above normal size which makes it a lot more menacing and scary, it also shows the closeness of the proximity to the child in bed which shows their kind of relationship.

This shot above is basically a close up of a wiji board form paranormal activity, this is because it is one of the main props in the film. I am going to use the same kind of thing in mine as i have a book that is the main prop. The fact that this is an extreme close up shows just how important the object is and that it will play a big part in the trailer.

All of the shots above are similar as they are all shot in night vision which gives a scary effect and also plays a big part in suggesting that this is a horror genre. They are all mainly wide shots of the room so that we can see exactly what is going on in the shot. They all shot the location which is the same in 3 of them which is the same kind of location i will be using. One of the shots is a close up of the antagonist which again is another i will use because it lets us feel like we are actually there which makes us more scared because we can now relate to the antagonist.
